Event and Exhibit on Stockton Chinatown

Beginning on Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 12-4 pm, visitors to the San Joaquin County Historical Museum in Micke Grove Park can go back in time and relive Stockton Chinatown when it was a colorful, bustling business district in the area now traversed by the Crosstown Freeway that links Highway 99 and I-5.

The exhibit continues at the museum through May 28, 2017.

Washington Street: The Heart and Soul of Stockton Chinatown is a special exhibition that chroniclesSam Fow Cantonese for “third city” from the early 1900s through redevelopment in the 1970s.

Join us for Chinese cultural activity stations, including a costume photo booth for cell phone pictures, local Chinese authors and cooks ready to answer your questions and sign books.

The exhibition is a collaborative effort between the museum and the Chinese Benevolent Association CBA of Stockton.

“Love You Baby” Lunch

“Love You Baby” is a Valentine’s celebration and a special promotion for participating Downtown Stockton restaurants and a chance for their patrons to get a lucky free lunch.

DSA will distribute oversized “Love You Baby” buttons throughout downtown Stockton... for instance, you can get a button at Downtown Stockton Alliance’s office.

On the day of the event, DSA’s Ambassadors will visit the restaurants from 11:30 am pm to 1:00 pm and award a free lunch to one whole table where all guests are wearing “Love You Baby” buttons.

If more than one table with all guests are wearing the buttons, DSA’s Ambassador will determine the winning table based on a “Valentine’s Day Spirit” of the group.

Visit downtownstockton.org for participating restaurants and more details.
