Homeless Housing Development

The City of Stockton is working to jump start a range of housing opportunities, including affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households and permanent housing reserved for those that are homeless. Project Homekey, a State of California grant program, provides funding to build permanent housing for persons experiencing homelessness. Local match funds are an expected component of the Homekey application process; the City has worked in partnership with local developers to plan, prepare, and finance two Homekey projects and provided match funds for a project applied for by the Housing Authority of San Joaquin. The City has applied for a third Homekey project and is awaiting a response on that application from the State.
